Helping Atlantic Canadian Student-Athletes Get Discovered
Let’s face it, only a select few are given the opportunity to succeed in the NCAA. The majority of youth hockey players need to seek out these opportunities with only the help of their parents.
This begins during 9th grade and continues until a player’s senior year (Grade 12). The earlier the process begins, the easier it will be.
Applying for and obtaining a scholarship in hockey could be an extremely draining process, nearly impossible for young Canadian athletes.
There are plenty of dedicated youth hockey players and parents, but not nearly enough scholarships.
So how are these athletes supposed to succeed in the highly competitive sport of NCAA hockey?
As your recruiting specialist, I will take the lead in the crucial and daunting journey of earning an ice hockey scholarship. We will get potential coaches to know who you are and how good you are.
Your focus as an athlete or a parent will no longer be on the journey, but on what is important—the sport of hockey.
We want to make sure our partnership will be beneficial. Making sure the student-athlete is a proficient student is a must. Academia is a crucial part of reaching D1 programs, as a prospect must have a GPA of 2.3.
There are 58 Men’s and 36 Women’s Division 1 schools that have hockey. Deciding on which school is best will be determined by the offered majors, location, and college lifestyle.
As parents, be sure to film your young athlete in action, which is crucial in coach evaluations. We will create highlights showcasing talent level and areas for improvement.
Next, we will evaluate the prospect’s talent level to know which NCAA division would be most appropriate. In hockey, college coaches will look into your shot velocity, skating speed, and on-ice leadership skills.
After determining the athlete’s qualification both academically and athletically, we will gather more information from your family such as transcripts, a questionnaire, current coach evaluations, and teacher referrals. Based on these, we create your kid’s personal profile, highlighting their athletic and academic achievements, stats, and awards.
Based on the questionnaire and our discussions, we will figure out the type of school that would meet your kid’s academic, athletic, and social needs. I will then start reaching out to the coaches of these schools.
Throughout the process, your athlete will have a dedicated scout that will help with any questions or concerns, including guidance for the all-important registration to the NCAA Eligibility Center.
We succeed when you succeed. It is not too late to begin the process. Get your online resume started and let’s begin our partnership. Let us help you and your child make the path to the next level easier and turn your athletic dreams into a reality.
